Last day of 2004

Should all acquantaince be forgot....lalala...

Yes, 2004 is ending in another 11 hrs...this year has been quite fruitful with my first YEP experience, taking up the role as leader for the Bhutan trip next year. I suppose it's more because of YEP that I've grown as a person. Richer experience and more open-minded to different culture and custom.

Nice experience also include my 21st birthday celebration with my family and friends. And I'm getting concious about health so signed up with California Fitness. Hopefully, in 2005, there'll be a slimmer and tonner me. I also went to China with my family in Dec. Nice scenery, unforgettable photos.

Nice shops include Sanrio in Suntec, Bodyshop everywhere, Kokon Tozai, Sushi Tei.

The best Chawanmushi I've tasted: the japanese restaurant in Takashimaya, think is Basement 1, besides Cold storage. Their other food I've tasted is the curryrice, quite tasty too...thinking about japanese food is making me hungry.

Here's wishing all reading this a smooth-sailing year ahead and take care!

Tribute

Went for a workout in the morning before meeting my classmates for presentation discussion. Had 3hr lesson before I went down to Settler's Cafe for the meeting. After the meeting played a few games like Oasis and 10 days in Africa with Amy and Dingli. Had quite a nice evening but feel really tired.

Just feel that I should pay a little tribute to the taxi drivers that ply our streets everytime of the day:

Moon glistening in the dark sky,
Stars shimmer in the dim light.
People sleeping in their warm beds,
Us driving under the street lights.

Know Singapore at the back of our hands.
Queue Changi Airport till the break of dawn.
Search customers at the side of the roads.
Race streets till the diesel runs dry.

Hard work every single day.
Overstrained muscles every single hour.
At other's beck and call every single minute.
Ticking metre every single seconds.

Meagre pay,
Little sleep.
Put kids through to uni.
Make use of time after retiring.

Current affairs
Politics
Karaoke
You name it, we know it.

World Vision

Went to Orchard to get the Bhutan travel guidebook from Kinokuniya with a 20% discount.

Saw a counter creating awareness about what World Vision do. Interested in child sponsoring but will have to wait till I get a job or else not financially stable. Think I'll choose the Mongolian kids then.

Met Dave and had coffee at Starbucks cos the movies were too late. Another friend that thinks that I'm leading a young tai-tai's life. Hey, if i don't pamper myself, who will? Thanks for the ride home, spare me from squeezing in the train.

Lesson and briefing

Returned back to NIE in the morning for a 2 and a half hour lesson and also a 2 hour Practicum briefing in the afternoon. By 11am, I was yawning away already...real tired...imagine, having to go back to the sch during the hols to attend lessons..real pathetic but not much of a choice...

Saw a poster regarding photo competition...maybe should try to enter and win some cash...first prize is $1000, second prize is $500 and third prize is $250. Wish me luck!

Sanrio shopping spree

Tutored today and found out that the tuition kid's aunt from Malaysia is coming to Singapore to work and can tutor the girl so I will just tutor once more on Friday and that's it. No more extra income for me...wonder how I will pay for my California Fitness Membership...anyone wanna hire a tutor? once a week? 2 hrs?

Went to Suntec's Sanrio shop and bought quite a number of Cinnamoroll stuff...feel like a little girl in her wonderland, looking at the amazingly adorable things. =P

Taufik Trivia

Received this through an sms and found it quite funny:

Taufik's family are:
Taupok (Father), Taufu (Mother), Taugua (Brother) & Tausuan (Sister). He has a dog called Taugay.

Though I'm also a Taufik fan but can't help but smile at this silly and lame sms. He's album is coming out soon! Will hear it out first before I decide I want to buy or otherwise.

My fave xmas song

Finally, I managed to find out the title for the Xmas song I like the most:

"As long as there's Christmas"
from Beauty and the Beast the Enchanted Story

Belle
There is more to this time of year
Than sleigh bells and holly, mistletoe and snow.
Those things come and go much deeper than snow,
Stronger than the strongest love we'll know, we'll ever know...
As long as there's Christmas, I truly believe
That hope is the greatest of the gifts we'll receive.
As long as there's Christmas, we'll all be just fine.
A star shines above us, lighting your way and mine.
Cogsworth
Just as long as there's Christmas, there will be Christmas pud!
Tons of turkey...
Mrs. Potts
And cranb'ry sauce, and mince pies, if we're good!
Lumiere
Loads of logs on the fire...Ornaments
Lots of gifts on the tree, all wrapped up in red ribbons...
Chip
Wonder if there's one for me!
Cogsworth
We're due for a party. Where on earth do we start?
Fifi
I may wear my tiara you bought me in Montmartre!
Cogsworth
All the silver will sparkle!
Mrs. Potts
And the china will gleam!
Lumiere
And we'll all be as shiny as a brand-new centime!
Chip
After dinner, we'll play games...
Mrs. Potts...
'Til the morning breaks through.
Lumiere
Then we'll meet in the garden. This is what we shall do!
Chip
We'll build a snowman that will reach to the sky!
Belle
It will stay up until July!
Angelique
What are you doing? Stop, stop, stop! Put me down! Put me down!
Oh, this is ridiculous! Everyone knows that the lights go on first!
I don't want to go all the way up there, to the top!
Belle and Chorus
As long as there's Christmas, I truly believe
That hope is the greatest of the gifts we'll receive.
Chorus
As long as our guiding star shines above...
Belle
As long as there's Christmas, we'll all be just fine...
Belle and Chorus
There'll always be Christmas...
Belle
So there always will be a time when the world is filled with peace and love.

Xmas eve

Geez...it's Xmas eve and guess what? I've fallen sick! Didn't even eat any heaty food and I've fallen prey to the nasty virus.

Suffering from sore throat and flu...had a splitting headache last night and felt quite nauseous...thought I was going to throw up my dinner but luckily didn't.

Now that I'm sick, I can't go tutor...gotta postpone the session...feel quite bad that I always postpone the tuition. Hope the child's mother understands and don't hold it against me...I wouldn't want to spread the virus to her daughter who just got well...

Movie

Met Celina for lunch at Sakae Sushi then went for my piano lesson in Plaza Sg...after my lesson, I was walking to Paragon when I met Celina on my way so we went there together cos she's meeting her friend there too.

I went for the Vitamin C Cold Compress facial and bought the Jojoba starter kit for $18.90, suppose to cost around $30+ and a Xmas gift for a friend from Bodyshop.

Went for a movie at Plaza Sg in the evening. Wanted to catch "Meet the Frockers" or "Phantom of the Opera" but both are not showing yet...so ended up watching "The Incredibles"...quite a cute movie and Jack jack is so adorable!

Updates

Hehe...I've bought the pumps that I like from Far East but my mum doesn't know yet...cos my room is quite a mess so can hide the bag away.

Went for a training session at Raffles' California today and gained abit of knowledge on how to train...especially for the arms...but decline the trainer from engaging him for monthly payments of $40+...am really quite broke already..how to afford a personal trainer?

Met up with Celina and checked out Cafe Rosso at Holland Village...quite a nice, clean cafe but not sure how the cakes taste as yet cos they look too pretty to be eaten! We headed to Sushi Tei for high tea then headed to Orchard's Borders...managed to get the cute postcards with animals. Couldn't resist spending money at the capsule machines again...but at least I limited myself to only 3...could have spent more but luckily no more coins...hehe...gotta start packing my room tomorrow or I'll never get started...tornado sweeping through tml...better stay clear!

Nice song

Just heard this S.H.E song and found the lyrics pretty meaningful.

Sorry.

Quite touching isn't it? A sense of loss and not being able to control how things turn out. So sad...

Back from trip

Hi all! Yup, I'm back from the Yunnan trip...the scenery there was simply breath-taking but the stairs-climbing was torturous!!! It's like physical training there! But come on, even the elderly people were there to rough it out just cos of the fantastic scenery.

The great part of the trip was the nice scenery and cheap books and cds. However, the negative part was having to bear with irritating, cannot-sit-still kids during flights (had to scold 2 boys for knocking constantly at the back of my seat making me irritable and unable to rest during the flights) and the constant need to look out for spittings on the ground. The Chinese still do not have any idea of hygiene in public places. Quite disgusted by the way they spit anywhere and everywhere. Really spoils the whole experience. Another negative point is that they do not know how to queue up. Always cutting queues and pushing and shoving to get their way. Haiz...I figure they still need some time to learn some social conduct in order to be able to compete with other nations for a gracious society.

I don't mean to criticise them but it really creates quite a bad image. Just give them some time to change. Another sad sight was to see beggars on the streets. Some of them were young kids who were disabled and did not even have proper clothing to wear in the cold weather. It's winter there now and even though there's no snowing but the chilly wind can really make one feel uncomfortable if you do not have enough warm clothing. Some of the beggars are mothers with their kids strapped on their backs or carried in their arms...my parents did donate some money to them but I couldn't cos i was penniless...didn't need to bring any money along since my parents will be.

Will miss the young children there cos they are simply adorable! They have such rosy and chubby cheeks and they will smile or laugh when u just look at them. There were quite a few instances where the young child smiled or laughed when I look at him or her. Was very tempted to take a photo of them but my parents did not allow cos they are afraid that the parents will ask for money if I did. Hopefully the Bhutanese kids are as adorable so I can take more pictures with them when we are there for YEP.

Little Miracles' Gathering

Went to the gym with Jiahui today to attend the Bodybalance and Street Jazz class. The instructor for Bodybalance was a pregnant lady named Elizabeth...she's really beautiful...envy her...=)

Met up with Dave at Somerset MRT then took the train to Cityhall with him. Luckily, he was willing to help keep the photo albums for me, too heavy for me to lug along to Saz's place in Clementi.

Met the regular Little Miraclers at Saz's place for the Hari Raya potluck...watched "Nang Nak" the thai horror movie but didn't find it as scary as "The Shutter". Had fun playing with Mohd and taking photos with him...he's got such a pouty mouth...so adorable!

Flying off to China for the holiday with my family tml, blog when I'm back!

Art exhibition

Went to the gym alone today for some workout...was alighting from the bus just outside Heeren when the teenage girl in front of me tripped on the heels of the lady in front of her that she fell totally flat on the ground...so totally embaressing, luckily she's not badly hurt...but she was really sprawled flat on the ground...even her shoes fell off...

Had lunch at Marche then headed to Specialists' Centre where I got Dave's call that he's already outside my house, to pass me something...my sis got it from him. I went down to Cityhall to meet Siti and the rest to go to Esplanade for Rosman's art exhibition with 12 other Malay artists. He used the YEP journal to draw and made the pages into transparency kind...quite cool...we had dinner at Colors of the Bay and went for a horror movie at Marina.

"The Shutter" (Thai horror film) is quite well filmed...the female ghost was scary enough and the live sound effects were great...we were in the first row and the teenage gals who were in the theatre really know how to scream...Suz who was seated beside me was jumping in her seat due to the screams...and Nora who was on my right was hiding behind her bag. I just couldn't stand the loud, ear-peircing screams...please lah, if you're scared then don't watch a horror film...choose something else. Like the part where the female ghost was climbing down the stairs to reach the guy and also the part where she took photos of herself seated on the guy's shoulder...the ending was also quite smart. The guy became insane and the female ghost was still seated on his shoulder when the guy's last gf went to the asylum to visit him. I suppose the film is teaching us not to do things u'll regret and to not commit stuff that u'll feel guilty about or u'll be haunted by it all your life.

Workout

Met Celina to do some workout at Orchard's California Fitness. Had tea at Coffee club just outside the gym. Went to Heeren to get Bubbletea...had a craving for that...managed to help my sis get the white musk gift set with dinner bag and the mango body butter with shower gel at the Scotts Bodyshop outlet...some branches don't have the bag anymore...spent yesterday afternoon trying to find out if the orchard road outlets have them but some of the sales assistants really wasn't of much help...quite disappointed by their poor telephone service...i suppose they figure that u're just enquiring and not really intent on buying...still thinking about that pair of pumps i saw in far east ($29.90)...should i get it? Been spending quite abit lately already...haiz...can't decide! How???

Membership

Went to California Fitness in Raffles Place yesterday and ended up signing a 2 year programme and it's like a Diners' Club credit card promotion where I sign up for 18 months and get another 4 months free...

I will have to pay my dad about $95 each month...so my tuition earnings will all go to this membership already...but at least it's for something healthy...gotta make use of the facilities and attend the classes as much as possible, or else, it'll be a waste of money...

Heard from the consultant that a new outlet will be open next year soon, and should be in town area...hopefully, it's much bigger, with more interesting classes. At least, have a cafe like the one in Raffles, more convenient for those working out to get some food before heading back for more exercise.

Cos I signed up for the membership, my friend managed to get a 1 month free membership but he can only visit the Raffles branch, hope he don't mind though...and I still have the 7-day pass...any takers?

Singapore Idol

Waited the whole day for a friend to drop by but in the end, he was too busy...just hang around at home, playing the piano and going online.

Went to the airport to fetch my dad and reached home in time for the Singapore Idol results show...felt that the fans were really fantastic...being so supportive and screaming throughout the show...think M'sians can hear them...haha

Decided to vote for Taufik Batisah cos felt that he has improved the most out of all the Idols and his effort and hardwork should be supported. Quite worried that Sylvester will win the title cos really think that he still needs to do quite a bit of work to improve his English (not that my English is that perfect but he's gonna represent Singapore someday and it won't look good...).

Luckily, Taufik won the title and is our very first Singapore Idol...so happy for him...he deserves it! At least my 1 pathetic vote counted and the money spent has not gone to waste.

Jazz Dance

Went to California Fitness today for the Street Jazz class...quite interesting. Workout a little before and after the class before meeting Jo to go Partyworld for KTV.

Someone from the KTV actually wanted to know Jo but she declined...so weird. We had a late lunch at Sakura the Thai restaurant in Far East. Like the pineapple rice...very tasty. I got a top for $16 at a fairly new store.

IT class

Headed to Paragon's Bodyshop again today to make the exchange...my sis don't wish to buy the gift set which I got for her wrongly. Luckily, the exchange can be done and got a few more items instead to make up the amount.

Went back to NIE for an IT class regarding Swish animation. Actually, now having the lesson but just doing what I usually do, type and listen at the same time.

Later, will be having the first meeting for the Bhutan expedition. Hopefully there'll be lotsa ideas for fundraising or we'll need alot of sponsors. Feeling sleepy...yawnz...

Vitamin C Facial

Went out today to meet Celina at the gym but ended up in Green Sanctuary. Bought alot of stuff cos members can enjoy 20% discount on regular priced items while gift sets have 15% discount.

Did the Vitamin C facial for $55 (usual $90)...it's the best facial i've ever done in sanctuary, very cold and refreshing. Quite thorough also...cos there'll be cleansing, followed by steaming, then cleansing again before the mask being applied...then there's the option of sunscreen or skin booster for completion. Feel so pampered...

Had coffee and chat with Celina at Coffee Club. Went home and realised that I got the wrong gift set for my sis...cham cham...maybe have to pay the extras myself...*shakes head in dismay...Too blur...just gotta bear the consequences...

Was walking around Far East...then went to the shop where i know the lady boss...bought a spag top for $10, black with floral prints...very lady...=P

Need to plan what to get for friends' Xmas gifts already...got some from Bodyshop today. Will look around and maybe get some gifts from my travel soon.

Shopping

Went shopping with my dad's taiwanese friends...have known the taiwanese aunties for years so can shop for hours with them.

Yuanwan Ah yee bought the hair accesory from the Japanese shop for me...hehe, managed to get the design I wanted previously ^_^

After having lunch in Marche and shopping around Suntec and Citylink, we were heading back when Yuanwan Ah yee decided to get a soft toy Piglet for my sis. Liu Yi Ah yee then asked me to help choose a Winnie the Pooh...which I thought she is getting for her daughter...but in the end, it was for me. I chose a smaller Classic Pooh...but actually both the soft toys are quite huge...the size of our bodies...the head of the Piglet was really big too.

Went for dinner at Hang Gang, the Teochew restaurant...and I had 2 small bowls of dessert (Yam with Gingko)...yum yum...=P

Bhutan Expedition June 2005

Hi...

Are you between 17-25 years old?

Have you always wanted to do something for nature?

Are you concerned about conserving the Earth's natural environment?

Do you wish to join about 20 like-minded nature enthusiasts on an overseas project?

If your answer is yes to more than 2 questions above, we are looking for you!

I will be leading a team of around 20 members to Bhutan in june 2005. Recruiting of members will last till Feb next year. However, I wish to have more response before 24th Dec so that team bonding and other planning can go ahead first.

Basically, this youth expedition project will involve the members by creating more awareness in the Bhutan community about the endangered black-necked cranes. We will also help the local teachers make brochures for them to educate their students in the future. Any other details will have to await till I have done the recce trip.

In the meantime, help to pass the message around. Everyone sincerely interested are welcomed. Just contact me at 96205640. I will try my best to fill you in more. Thanks and have a nice day!

Smiles,
Geraldine

Holidays are here at last!

Yeeeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaaah! The long-awaited holidays are finally here!

Today we had our last paper- Tang poetry and guess what, I finished my paper way early...like in record time...4 questions completed in 1 hr! Meaning that I finish one 2 page answer (leaving a line in between of cos!) in 15 minutes! Decided to stay and wait around cos my classmates are celebrating Peishi's birthday early.

Samantha, Yanxuan, Corinne, Huili, Liyin, Wanjun and myself went to Fei Chui to get lunch. I went to this shop that has a lot of those capsule machines and was quite lucky to get the designs I wanted. Headed down to Orchard to help my Dad develop some digital photos. It's much cheaper at No 1. Color Centre. 25 cents per print for under 100 pieces, but if 100 and above, it's 20 cents per print. All done within 1 hr with no processing fee...real good deal right? Reached home dead beat but can get to rest and relax already...So happy!!! =D

Day out

Yesterday I reached California Fitness Orchard by 745am...cos the first class that I wish to attend begins at 810am. I went for Yoga, Hip Hop and Bodycombat, back to back. The classes was fun and I enjoyed Hip Hop the most. Very fun. Did some cycling before the class.

During the Yoga class, was amazed at the flexibility of the elderly aunties...they looked like they are around 60+ years old but when it comes to bending down with their legs outstretched, their heads can touch their knees! No kidding! I saw it with my own eyes...luckily i was at the back of the class, so paiseh, younger than they are yet stiffer bones than them...haiz...

Had lunch at Sushi Tei and went for Intensive Eye treatment at Green Sanctuary before meeting Jh to sign up for the promotion California Fitness membership. Met up with Celina for coffee at Coffee Club and had a nice chat. Took SBS 36 to the airport from the bus-stop outside Tangs and at the next stop, Daphne Khoo boarded the bus with 2 other guy friends. Noticed that no one on the bus said hi to her, I guess they couldn't be bothered especially now that she has been voted out of Singapore Idol. She was seated just in front of me and one of her friends just beside me. They alighted at Suntec and during the bus ride, TV mobile showed the advert of Singapore Idol with Sylverster and she started getting very excited...I guess she's trying to get pple's attention. Quite pathetic but cannot blame her, she's still young, only 17. Fame is what alot of people go after sadly but truly.

Going gym tml tho my body's still aching a little from the last exercise...too long never workout already...need to exercise more!

Interesting quiz

You serve with all your earnest integrity...
Koerdis
He is the Tilirreh of Blue.
Koerdis symbolizes Harsh Truth, and is the Opener of Ways.
Blue light is the acceptance of reality, the ability to face it and oneself and to investigate truth. It is also integrity and clarity of thought and vision.
If you have a Koerdis-guided personality then you are ruled by reason, logic, and the need to learn the real truth behind everything. You are inquisitive and open-minded, unconventional and experimental, honest and clear, direct and forthright, and always willing to investigate and then explain the nature of the world around you to others who might ask. To you the fabric of reality is the most interesting thing of all, and unlike
Melixevven who innocently rejoices in the mundane and sees it in a warm-colored light, you are dispassionate and want to analyze and dissect reality through the cleanest most transparent lens.
You may be accused of being a know-it-all by individuals who are secretly envious of your ability to have all the answers, so be wary of coming across as tactless — or worse, heartless — when you dole out cold absolute facts. To avoid this, temper your expression of truth with compassion.
Your brilliant mind constantly engages in patterns of analysis and plays out a myriad of various scenarios in your head long before you actually come to any conclusions or do anything. But other people don't know that since they cannot read your mind. Therefore be gracious in explaining your reasoning, not just the theories and facts that you spout forth so effortlessly. And be gentle with those who are not as capable of handling truth as you are.
When imparting knowledge, always define your terms first to make sure you are referring to the same thing that your companion thinks you do. If you are talking apples and oranges, then you are talking about two different truths, often both valid, and you are wasting time and energy in needless argument, not to mention being a nerd in the worst sense of the word (as opposed to the cool kind of nerd *wink*).
Taken to extremes your pursuit and appreciation of pure truth can lead to cold detachment, pride and a sense of superiority. Well, you may indeed be smarter than others in so many things, but keep in mind that pride is merely complacency breeding false confidence which can hold you back from improving yourself further — pride can weaken you and make you stupid.
Keep in mind also that intelligence is only one of the tools in the arsenal of a Rennaissance Man or Woman, and that is what you want to be, right? You want to be completely well-rounded as a human being, because that is the only mathematically perfect condition to strive for.
The other tools in the arsenal, if you are curious — and I know you are — are wisdom, patience, humor, and the ability to put yourself in another's place completely to see how they came to be the way they are. Wisdom takes truth and looks at it from the widest number of perspectives possible, approaching that of the Absolute. Patience takes the truth before you and gives you the strength to face it and the time to internalize it. Humor allows you to look at painful reality objectively and to stand clear of it enough to see it for what it is without fear. Putting yourself in another's shoes gives you a unique second perspective and the most valuable lesson possible — mercy and compassion are nothing more than willingness to understand and explore the hidden logic behind another's motivations.
Another way to put it is, wisdom makes you genuine, patience makes you strong, humor makes you elegant and putting yourself in another's place makes you aware. Not bad, eh?
You might wonder why I did not mention Love. And why I just capitalized it. Well, keep wondering, my friend! Because that is for me to know and for you to find out! And finding things out is what you do best. So, get cracking!
Teachers, scientists, detectives, mathematicians, composers, researchers, navigators, philosophers, and other seekers are often guided by the clear and direct, searchlight-bright light of Koerdis.
More so than all the other Tilirr Personalities you have no fear of what is real and what lies in the world around you. For you have fathomed the Blue Mystery of Koerdis that the more you know, the more you become, the more you understand the farther you extend, and the more you seek within others the more you find of yourself.
As well you should, you who look in the mirror bravely, for with your
keen ability to see you open the eyes of us all.

Which of the Lords of Rainbow do you serve?

California Fitness

Visited California Fitness with Jo after the last time we had the trial. Woke up late so missed "Dance steps" but was in time for "Bodycombat"...luckily they changed the songs used for the workout or else so sick of the same songs...

Had quite a good workout then headed for the sauna...it was too hot so stayed 10minutes the longest. Afterwhich, we head to Sushi Tei in Paragon for lunch. Saw this 30l Tatonka backpack for $49 at Paragon's Planet Traveller...but couldn't buy it cos my parents forbade it. Missed a great deal...haiz...

Met Jh at Hougang Point's Coffee Bean to get some studying done. ^_^

Another attack

From: Juliana

ok it's so easy to say 'i don't have intention to ...'but anyway all the best!

From: "Geraldine" Thu, 04 Nov 2004 14:25:20 -0000

I have no intention of offending anyone nor force anyone into doing anything. I have no idea why you are so offended when I have not even tried to offend. If you are unhappy with the way I handle matters, just ignore my messages. You are not obligated to read or even respond. I am getting quite fed up with the response I get from you and will definitely not keep quiet anymore. I certainly do not understand what you have against me.

"juli kassim"

hey geraldine, i think you are still clueless about the term 'VOLUNTARY'! it means it's up to the person to help out of their own will-and not because they are obligated to or forced to gosh geraldine, until now, i still can't accept on how you talk to people... remember that time i said to you that you ought to learn some social skills and stop being so high strung and rude if you really want to be considered as a good leader... but i guess you still need to learn more about service learning yah..

From: "Geraldine" Date: Wed, 03 Nov 2004 08:22:15 -0000
Hi Carol, Yah...it's the exams period...but it's only one morning! It's your choice anywayz...I can't be bothered already...by friday Im done with all the reports so giving myself a break to have fun with the kids before facing the exams...Yup, must take care everyone..been raining quite heavily recently...don't get caught in the rain or else no pond to jump...hehe =) Ger

Circle of Life

Volunteered at the Nature Society of Singapore's 50th Anniversary at Millenia Walk today. 800 kids were expected to come in batches and I was there to help at the silkscreen printing booth but end up going there as well as helping my friends at the dikir barat rap.

Printed a few designs on an apron as well as a free volunteer tshirt. The designs are really nice, they have animals like the slow loris, the squirrel, the long-tail flycatcher and the seahorse. I printed all four of these on the apron and slow loris and squirrel on the tshirt.

By 5pm, I was dead tired...so decided to go get an early dinner (hardly ate during lunch...no time, the kids just kept coming). Had dinner at ThaiExpress...yummy...

By the way, I've found my facilitator, who is Ben from NIE, my photographer, Robert and expert bird-watcher, Ding Li and nature-lover, Nora...so far so good...got all these valuable team members...hope everything will go as smoothly as this. =)

Now, it's back to revisions...

Are you meant to fly solo?

Results (contradictory to those i posted before this):

Satisfied Solo
Your sense of self is strong. Happily, you've come to grips with life on your own and enjoy a certain amount of solitude. You might have arrived here through resignation or by conscious choice. Either way, your life is -- or could be -- full without a partner. It could be that for you to have a full life, you cannot have a partner. Are you so set in your ways that a mate just mucks things up? If you're in a relationship and questioning it, you might be happier on your own. If you don't feel you need a mate, could that be because your definition of yourself leaves no room for a significant other? If you met a certain suitable someone, could you relax your standards, take down some of your emotional obstacles, and empty a drawer in the bathroom?

Dubious results

Do you pick men wisely?

Beg to differ to the quiz results...think fen-jie and jh can vouch for that...

You're Pretty Good at Picking 'Em
You seem to have a good sense that people aren't perfect, and that you need to accept certain compromises in your quest for long-term love. "Will any guy give you everything you need? No," says Dr. Gilda Carle, author of Don't Bet On The Prince: How to Have the Man You Want by Betting on Yourself (Golden Books, 1998). "But when you feel good about yourself, you are able to give yourself what you want, too -- and you recognize that your most important need is simply for someone who can treat you well, make you feel good about yourself, and not put you down." So far, your search hasn't netted you the man of your dreams, but you're well on the right track -- just keep doing what you're doing, because your choices aren't bad. You're just still in the middle of your journey.

Are you ready to date again?

The results:

Ready to Dive In
What are you waiting for, girl? You have definitely moved on. You may not have shed all of your feelings about your ex -- the occasional bout of fury or wistfulness sometimes creeps up, but you definitely have your former relationship in perspective. The new men that you meet won't be punished for your ex's sins, nor suffer unfair comparisons to him. Most important, you're past the point where you need to have a man around 24/7. You're open to the idea of meeting someone, but until that day comes you're doing just fine on your own.

Why are you still single?

Another MSN quiz results:

Wounded and Withdrawn
Ideally, you'd like a relationship with a sexy and considerate man. Unfortunately, you're not willing to take the risk. Perhaps you've been hurt in the past and have a basic mistrust of men. Perhaps you've been on your own for so long that the idea of having to open yourself up to another person is terrifying.
Kathleen Woodward Thomas, a psychotherapist and author of Calling in "The One": Seven Weeks to Attract the Love of Your Life (Three Rivers Press, 2004) says that women's fear of intimacy manifests itself in many different ways. Some women deal with their own fear of commitment by choosing commitment-phobes. Some women date men that they don't respect, so that they won't become too attached. And some women just avoid the dating scene entirely by hiding out in a career or other interest.
"A lot of women are very afraid of appearing desperate, so they go to the opposite position. We pretend we don't need anything. But love kicks in when we are vulnerable with each other. That's not pathetic, that's just human," Thomas says. To break out of this pattern and find the love you deserve, you need to accept the fact that getting hurt is a very distinct possibility.
"The reality is that love is risky and we can't predict the outcome," says Nina Atwood, a Dallas therapist and author of Be Your Own Dating Service: A Step-by-Step Guide for Finding and Maintaining Healthy Relationships (Henry Holt, 1996). "We put our hearts on the line, and that takes emotional resilience. So you need the basic confidence in yourself to know that no matter what happens you'll be okay."

Marriage? Hmm...

MSN Women Quiz "Are You Ready for Marriage?" results:

You're ready to tie the knot.
Finding the right person to settle down with helps you become the person you want to be in life. You have a healthy self-esteem and a good grasp on reality. "You don't have what I call the Jerry Maguire syndrome," says Les Parrott, marriage expert and best-selling author of Saving Your Marriage Before It Starts. "You don't need anyone to complete you. Rather, they complement you." Whether you have found the One or are still on the lookout, you can breathe easy. When it comes time for wedding bells to chime, you'll be set and you'll be radiating pure, honest-to-goodness happiness too.

How ironical when im still very single...sigh...

Heavenly

Feel very accomplished today cos i managed to churn out 3 lesson plans for my writing module and another lesson plan for my IT powerpoint. Handed up these 2 assignments promptly and then headed to Hitachi Tower for my treat despite the rain...

Went for a very relaxing facial and then another half-body massage at Green Sanctuary...feel almost like im in heaven!

Tried the Yami yoghurt's macademia nut flavor...don't like it...think peach is still the best. Next week no more lessons...just gotta hand up 4 more reports and im done with the frustrating papers!

Reports...reports...and more reports

It seems as though the reports that we have to complete are never gonna end...it's like less than 2 weeks from our first paper and here we are still slogging to try to complete all these big reports that demand quite alot of attention and time from us.

By Fri, I have to complete 2 reports somehow and by next week 2 more...really wondering how we can survive this torturous week of rushing reports and not having enough sleep...think almost all of my classmates have not had a good game of chess with Mr Zhou already...

Quite a few have also fallen ill due to the stress...hope they get well soon...cannot afford to miss any papers when exams come. No idea when all these rubbish will end...hopefully as soon as possible so that life can get back to normal.

Had a meeting with Dr Vilma just now about leading a YEP next december, hope I'm not snatching a project from Colin's gf. The project will be in Bhutan, quite interesting project dealing with black-neck cranes...gonna do alot of bird-watching and it'll be in cold weather...woohoo...no need to feel hot and bothered..i like..

Hope to find a suitable facilitator soon so that can start planning for fund-raising and team-building matters. Must work fast or else other YEP teams will start on their fund-raising campaigns and the amount of donations collected will be significantly reduced.

Gotta get back to typing my next report...sianz...

Concert

The concert was fabulous...Liang Jing Ru sounds great especially when she simply sings without any music...great voice and she's getting slimmer and slimmer...*envy* there were about 2000 over people and even the stairs were filled with audience...

Too bad it ended too early...lasted for only about 1.5 hrs...luckily, Josh came to NTU...picked me up and we went for a late dinner at Jalan Kayu...reached home by 10:10pm and totally conked out before 12am.

Monday, October 25, 2004

Headache ah!

Suffering from a headache...soon head will be splitting open...lousy hot weather and loads of work to do...need to give myself a break by going to the Fish Leong's concert in NTU this evening.

Hope the music will help ease the pain away...managed to complete my term paper before the class cos went to sch lib earlier to complete it. At least, that's one more report down.

Day off

Declared another day off cos no point travelling for about 2 hrs just to reach the lecture theatre for a 'waste-my-time' IT lecture...simply learn nothing from the lecturer except that he's real rich and super into IT stuff...always telling us his "heroic" past...real sickening...

Managed to complete my picture book...tomorrow is the "fa biao hui" hope they'll like what i've done...not easy at all...A3 size all the time and effort put in...worthwhile attempt.

Tried hard to find some elderly pictures online but failed to find suitable ones...in the end might need to draw for my teaching of writing lesson plans...haiz...

Children's Poems which I wrote

Escapee

Felt quite sick of school...so sick that I can feel a headache creeping up and tummyache acting up...

In the end, decided to leave school after attending 1 tutorial and completing a script for my elective's work.

Tired escapee reporting live from the comfort of home...signing off...

Facial treat

After attending the motivation lesson in the late morning, decided to drop by Hitachi Towers' Green Sanctuary and give myself a facial treat...

Had a very relaxing facial, went window-shopping at Far East Plaza next...

Total treat

Hahaha...in the end I did not go for tuition after my lessons today...went down to Orchard instead where i got a late lunch at Sushi Tei...drop by at Green Sanctuary of Paragon next...went for a half-body scrub and massage...truly divine feel...haha...used my 20% birthday discount so paid only $44...totally worth it!

Bought a cute japanese puppy soft toy from Takashimaya for only $9.90...gonna give it some lavender spray treatment later...it smells a little weird...=)

Saturday siesta

Feeling pretty productive last night cos i managed to complete 2 of my reports (1 lesson plan and 1 report)...but today while i get up from bed, if not for the lesson plan due today, wouldn't want to travel all the way to boon lay...real sianz....

Now in class, having a short break...don't feel like giving tuition, lousy tutor...=P

Wednesday, October 13, 2004

Yucky tutorials

Another sad, boring day in school...if not for the consultation for my moral education lesson plan, wouldn't want to attend any class today...real annoyed that my precious time is being wasted just like that...attending classes whereby i learn almost zilch stuff...

Plus, I could have made better use of my time by completing my assignments...now contemplating if I should attend 2 lessons of Tang poetry tomorrow...quite pointless...real sianz...how?

Stress level rising

Finally...finished sorting out my YEP photos and placed them into photo albums...2 big albums of 200 photos each and 2 smaller albums of 40 photos each...scary isn't it? And i did not placed all my photos in them yet...haha

Consulted 2 lecturers today and realised that exams are less than 1 month's time away and minus the A3 picture book, still have 9 more reports to complete! Argh...better stop here and start on some work...or i'll never finish in time!

Art exhibition

Went to Saz's graduation art exhibition on Friday...met his wife and son and took lotsa photos with his son (7 mths old)...really cute boy...=)

After mingling around til 8+pm, went to Jurong Point (JP) to catch "The Exorcist" with Suzana, Siti and Juliana. Quite a grotesque show, real superb sound effects...but think staunch Catholics might faint at the plot...

On Saturday, went to Bodyshop in JP to use my 20% discount...ended spending slightly over $100...heez...can't help it, they do have alot of nice stuff...value for money...

Managed to find and buy the french film "La Papillon" from Times bookstore today...they only have the last dvd left so i bought it cos it was under $25, quite worth it...

9 reports to go, 1 month to exams...*_*

Nurture...be a teacher...if only it's as simple as it sounds.

Really dread tutoring the weekday student...it's as though I'm a primary school student sick of attending tuition sessions...real pathetic isn't it? Really not much of a choice cos it's my own fault for agreeing to take up this assignment when my friend from NTU asked me. Now, just hoping that someone else who has better time management and experience can take over this assignment...

Today, the mum interrupted the tuition session cos she was unhappy with the way I conducted the tuition session. She claimed that I should not be basing the tuition session on the assessment books which she got for her child. I should be revising the year's work with her child instead. Hello...in the first place, during the 1st 2 sessions of tuition, the mother asked me to use the assessment books and not to get her child anymore. Think now she ‘ganjiong’ already, scared no time to cover everything before the exams, which is pretty understandable but at least give me some due respect as her child's tutor and tell me nicely mah...what “are u going to continue to just give her work to do from the assessment books? If these 2 maths assessment books are not bought by me, how are u going to teach?”

No problem, I can find my resources, afterall im still in NIE with a bevy of trainees...can always consult them if necessary. I told the mum that I've been giving her child work because although the school has finished teaching the maths syllabus, but I do not know if her child knows how to do the sums of the topics taught in the second semester. I have to assign her some work in order to mark and assess to understand if her child grasp the topic's main idea. At the end of the discussion, the mother simply took the 2 assessment books away without letting me go through the wrong answers which her child did for the previous work assigned...Fine...it's her child's loss, not mine. I can only do that much, if the child or even her refuse to cooperate, even if I were the top, the best tutor in Singapore, I won't be able to help her child improve in Maths or Chinese results. I can only say that I've tried my best.

Lessons learnt:

* Don't take up tuition assignments when you think that you can still squeeze in time in a hectically packed schedule

* Stay true to yourself and be answerable to the way you teach. At least when faced with a “confrontation” by the parent, you can still defend your case.

* Help the child as much as you possibly can, when all else fails, give an encouraging smile. Although the child may not show any response to your encouragement or smile, at least you don't make the child feel intimidated or fearful that him/her has failed in reaching your expectations. Acknowledge the child's efforts to try despite the pressurizing schedule in school and involvement in co-curricula activities.

Finally! My NTU friend managed to find someone to take over me for this assignment! So relieved!

Low or no motivation!

Think i've contracted the lazy bug cos lately don't feel like tutoring my students...I've missed 2 sessions out of 3 this week...this cannot go on! Perhaps, the stress of trying to balance my academic work (reports after reports) and tutoring plus other 'japalan' stuff is burning me out...

Just went for a KTV session at KBOX of Suntec with Paul today. Haven't been singing for quite sometime, sorry people if u were there this afternoon...your ears gotta bear the lousy voice of mine...felt really tired cos slept at 5+am and woke up at 6+am today, but really glad that Paul accompanied (both the phonecall and the singing) gamingly. Thanks alot. Appreciated it. =)

A test i chanced upon

You're Elizabeth Swan, governer's daughter. Every pervy orlando-fancier hates you.

Which POTC character are you?

Not really sure what the part abt "pervy orlando-fancier" means cos did not catch the Pirates of the Carribean and then again, IF only i was really as beautiful as Elizabeth Swan...haha...better don't comment further on a character i barely know, later she's those vicious pirates that look good but are real terrors...>_<

Renault deal

Hi Friends,

I have a friend who's offering a pretty good deal for Renault cars or mini vans...so if you are currently thinking of buying 1, do check out the various models on the renault (singapore) webpage and post up a comment here so that I can inform my friend to liaise with u. No worries, this cheaper deal still comes with the 3 yr warranty and it's not like the vehicle has any stolen or faulty parts...brand new vehicles, just that my friend will earn less commission from the sale, as simple as that...and yes, he is an authorised part-time dealer, not doing this illegal. =P

Reporting sick

How? hOw? hoW?
so much assignments to complete, so little time...ok no use whining...waste time only...but really feeling ill, it's only a matter of time before i 'collapse' from stress and tiredness...like what Fen-jie say, can hardly fight the Z monster during class...Seems like my defence army against the Z monster is weakening...vulnerable to X virus and Y do they still expect us to report to class all smiles??? All the grim faces and half-open eyelids are the evidence of our race with time...

Coupled with this tiredness, my sore throat and dry cough is not helping too...so decided to inform my tuition kid's mum that i can't make it for today's session cos im ill...which is half true...the other part is that i wish to complete a draft report for tml in sch...which i failed to complete cos i was busy chatting with a like-minded friend and dealing with other chapalang stuff that will demand my attention sooner or later...

Luckily, managed to complete the draft pretty quickly (or i won't be able to be online at this time, still working on it)...really think there's a bad karma between my sis and me these few days...what's going on man? I tried to talk to her nicely, yet in the end, she still flares up and spoke rudely to a tired and almost resigned me. My parents overheard the conversation and guess what? Again...my fault...hiaz...just gotta activate my "忍功"

The past week

Quite alot have happened for the past week...just that no time to blog the experiences so here's the condensed, rewind form...

Sunday 26/9/04

Woke up this morn, happy that i'll be catching a movie "The terminal" with my sis and doing some shopping after my piano lessons but after I've changed, Sis tells me that she don't feel like going for the movie. The thundercloud gathers almost immediately above my head. Really dislikes it when plans changes the last minute...really makes me pissed off...will think thrice if the next time i ever have the thought of going out with her. So after my piano lesson, went for retail therapy...it really works wonders for me man, especially when the stores which I went to were offering clothes at a gd bargain...so as u can guess, spent quite abit but at least my face was not as black as in the morn...hahaha...however, think the past week of late nites and the stress of 10 more reports to go before the exams arrive are starting to get to me...having a sore throat and headaches for 2 days in a row...getting sick soon...haiz...can't afford to fall sick now man... 1o more days to the day which commemorate “母亲受难日”=“生日”and must bid the teenage years gdbye. *sob*sob*

Saturday 25/09/04

Watched a french film "The Buttefly" during GE today...real touching and nice movie...think in the whole class of abt 20 pple, I was the only one who was openly affected by the movie (meaning I cried when there were touching moment lah) But that's how I am...easily affected when I'm watching a movie or reading a book...get totally into the story that I feel for the characters...(so friends, if we go for the movies next time, if u see me sniffing halfway through the show, don't worry, I'm fine, just getting too involved in the story and at the same time it's a way for me to release stress...really, outpour of emotions) in short, some will say that I'm an emotional wreck when it comes to such instances...this is actually quite worrying cos i'll be out teaching soon and if i cannot control my emotions appropriately, will most probably break down in front of my students when i screen movies for them or in more serious instances, like hearing of real-life sad accounts...hope to attend a course to learn how to control my emotions soon...

Friday 24/9/04

Visited ARPC with Yifen and friends today despite the fact that I'm dead tired...cos want to check out some books only available there...the bus-ride there was quite lousy cos the bus was stuffy and i was having a splitting headache from lack of sleep...luckily, after dinner at Adam Road hawker centre, felt better. Felt quite embaressed that the first time out with Yifen's friends and I'm not feeling well, appear so "off" (walk slower than usual, did not communicate much, particular about not sitting near the mutton soup stall cos of the strong smell) Hope that they'll understand if they get the chance to read this blog...thanks for understanding! But, I'm really glad that I went cos i've learnt quite alot and hope to have the chance to go with Yifen more often (Fen-jie, u know what i mean ~sigh~)

Thursday 23/9/04

My "travelmate", "咖啡姐", chum in NIE turns 23 today!!! Happy Belated Birthday wishes yah...(cos i blog on sunday mahz) Hope you had a very memorable 23rd birthday celebration with different groups of your loved ones and friends...Just wanna say a big THANK YOU...for being an extremely supportive friend, sharing with me whenever I've alot of 'weird' queries abt Christianity, sharing life experiences with me through the stories and our daily "gossips" haha...really feel very fortunate to have met you and got to know you in NIE cos it's really quite rare to find someone with the same schema as me on alot of issues especially in tertiary instituition (people normally find their closest friends in secondary schools and jcs)!!! Gotta thank my guardian angels that I managed to find a close friend in each stage of my education and to many more years of our friendships to come...CHEERS! (too bad msn emoticons not available here...or else blog entry will be more interesting)

Back to school...

With a blink of the eye, the 1 week break is sadly over...don't think i've accomplished much, considering that there's another 2 reports due next week which i've yet to start on...real sickening...it's like trying to race against time and trying hard to complete 1 report after the other. Luckily, i did not fall ill during this break, cos heard that alot of people spent their hols trying to recuperate frm flu, etc...quite sad to have the break burnt just like that. Oh well, i better go start on my dummy picture book...do some drawings instead of facing the com all the time.

Noisy Sunday

Testing 1...testing 2...testing 1, 2, 3...geez...that's the racket which woke me up on this sunday morning...

Apparently, the RC near my place is having some carnival of sorts and they are using a super-powerful sound system early this morning(7+am) to be my morning call...and i did not request for 1 in the 1st place! Luckily, the whole event ended by 1230pm, so no more loud, annoying noise torturing our eardrums.

After 1 week of break frm sch, managed to complete 3 reports which will be due in the week when sch reopens. Feel that ive not accomplished much...quite slack when i should be packing my room and completing more reports...what to do...it's the hols...there's excuse to cut myself some slack...=P

Supper talk

Met up with Carol, Colin, Rosman and Siti at Raffles Place to discuss our upcoming NSS presentation. After ending our meeting, Colin, Rosman, Siti and myself went to Lau Pa Sat to get supper. We started recounting past relationships, learning from each others' experiences amongst other topics...reached home quite late, around 1am but the sharing was worthwhile and gave us a chance to get to know each other better.

New lovely shop

After sending my dad off for yet another business trip (to different parts of India this time round for a week), my mum, sis and i took a bus down to Suntec. Actually, my main purpose was to go check out this new Japanese shop which was featured in a Chinese programme I saw on TV this afternoon.

The shop is located in Citylink Mall, #B1-16, named Kokon Tozai. It sells accesories made with vintage kimono fabric and I really fancy the hair accesories and handbags there cos every piece is unique...nearly bought a hair accesory with pastel pink sakura design cos misheard the salesgirl saying that it costs $14.90 (which is already very pricey) but in the end, did not get it cos the actual price is $24.90!!!

Really dislike the feeling when i fancy something yet cannot buy it...guess everyone experienced that before and can understand what i mean...

It's really quite scary...i actually dreamt that I went back to the shop again with another friend and to my disappointment, the design of the hair accesory which i liked are all sold out!!! Haha...quite silly isn't it?

Flashback

During the "teaching of writing" class today, our teacher recounted that he had an accident on his bike when he was in his teens and this brings to mind the accidents i encountered when i was in primary school...the weird thing was that most of these accidents happened about 1 or 2 weeks before my birthday...real unlucky then...

It all started when i was in Primary 2, I will normally board the school bus once school's dismissed and not leave the bus to play with my friends, but 1 day, my classmate, Wanli asked me to come down and I did...when i returned to where my schoolbus was parked initially, realised that the uncle has left the school compound with my bag in the bus but not me...hence i decided to walk home, cos it's just a 15min walk and I know the way...Wanli even offered to ask her school bus uncle to give me a lift back, but i bravely said, it's ok i know my way back...unfortunately, at that age, i did not have the concept of cars capable of making u-turns at an uncontrolled junction...I was knocked down by a light blue van but luckily because it was trying to u-turn, the speed was quite slow, i only suffered some light injuries...the driver did stop the van and helped carry me to the pavements, a maid who can recognise me fussed over me before my anxious school bus uncle found me and sent me home. I did not cry until I called my mum who was at my maternal grandfather's wake, cos there was no one at home except my indifferent paternal grandfather. Upon hearing my mum's voice asking me what's wrong, I guess "self-pity" overwhelmed me and later in the evening, my dad brought me to make a police report. It was heard that the driver was caught but we did not take any legal actions against him cos I was also at fault for crossing the road recklessly...

In Primary 3, I contracted chicken pox from a classmate...so i did not really enjoy my 10th birthday...

Another dramatic accident happened when i was in Primary 4: playing catching was the "in" thing during recess so 1 fateful morning, most of our classmates were out there in the school field playing catching around 1 of the goal posts under the hot sun...i was standing near to the goalpost and another friend, Dunlin was standing at the other side of the goalpost...he started leaning on the rusty goalpost and before we knew it the goalpost started tilting forward towards me...I stood there, rooted to the spot, eyes transfixed on the falling goalpost, my mind a complete blank...until at almost the very last moment, I fell back in shock and the heavy goalpost landed on my left ankle...I was trapped and 2 other classmates were also hurt by the accident but my case was the most serious...the principal, Mr Fang was notified and another female teacher hurried to the scene. I remembered that cos my ankle was injured quite badly, it started swelling up and I could not walk. Hence, my principal carried me to his car and sent both me and another classmate, Yongqing (if i remember his name correctly) to Toa Payoh Hospital with the female teacher who was nagging all the way..."Why are all of u so mischievous? Recess time go to the field to play...see what happened now?...only know how to give us trouble..." As we were approaching the hospital, we passed by a disabled home and due to my young age, my imagination started running wild...I was thinking to myself..."Oh no...what if I end up a cripple and have to live in the disabled home for the rest of my life now???"

While waiting for our turn to get the doctor's consultation, both of us were seated in the wheelchair and the Singapore workout on TV was the only thing that can help keep my mind off the dreary image of living in the disabled home for the rest of my life. Can still recall how that song sounds...*_* The doctor made me do an X-ray and I can still remember how cold the screen was compared to my throbbing ankle...which swelled pretty much into a "tii kar". Was really glad when the principal sent us back to school for our parents to come fetch us home. While I was waiting for my dad to arrive, I remembered that the kind and endearing principal even gave me a packet of chocolate milk to fill my stomach cos it was getting quite late. (May seem nothing much to others but it left quite a deep impression in my young mind that Mr Fang did not reprimand us for our mischief but showed true concern for his students)

I was pretty lucky that I fell back in shock and had a hair-line crack in my ankle bone cos if i did not fall back, the heavy goalpost would have landed straight on my head...and i might not be able to live to this age and type what happened then...somehow, felt that some divine being was there to help me at that precise moment...maybe it was my guardian angel saving me in the nick of time or it could be my maternal grandfather who was protecting me from suffering greater harm. Remembered that my dad had to piggyback me like i was 5 up the 3 storeys to our home when we returned and I had to hop around for about 2 weeks before i can start to walk slowly again...

I remembered vividly that by the time I was back in school (rested abt 1 week at home), ironically hopscotch was the "in" game during recess and Liduan who's very straightforward, approached me and asked: "Hey Geraldine, now you must be really good at hopscotch right?" She was pretty mean, so I ignored her and limped away...

Luckily, when I was in Primary 5, my luck started to change for the better...finally, my lucky stars are shining bright once again in the sky. =)

Teacher's Day

Yesterday was Teacher's day but ironically, the trainees and lecturers in NIE did not get to enjoy a day off...it was back to campus to attend lessons and more lecturing to be done. 实习教师 “命苦”啊! ^_^

Finally at noontime, met up with the laptop spoiler to settle the repayment matters...really glad that Fen-jie was there to help talk it out...got quite emotionally upset with the spoiler and could barely speak understandably with a raging storm brewing in my mind...In the end, can only settle for 70% which he'll pay me by 13th September while I have to fork out 30% of the total repairment fee to repay the loan I got to get my laptop back first.

Around 4.15pm, there was a fire drill practice in NIE Block 3 where we were having lessons, so the lesson had to end, and all of us gathered in the carpark. We saw most of our lecturers gathered there as well and after standing around for awhile, we decided to approach them and wish them Happy Teacher's Day..quite funny picture cos they look like celebrities shaking hands with their fans...hahaha =P The fire drill is the most realistic one most of us had ever experienced cos the fire engine and firefighters actually arrive and started extinguishing the supposedly burning area. We were dismissed after 1 hr and that was when we decided to take a class photo with most of the lecturers we know (Chinese department of cos). In the end, the photo turned out quite nice. Finally, our chinese class has a class photo...

Met up with Jiahui at Causeway Point and had fun chatting with her. Cos had a long day in sch and we spent quite a long time chatting and having dinner, by the time we left Woodlands, we were dead tired...but it was worth it! =)

Lousy Monday

I guess the saying's logic "You win some, you lose some" applies to me quite suitably today...

The earlier part of the day went quite well, cos we did our Motivation module's presentation (30 marks out of whole module's assessment) and had quite alot of fun and laughed quite abit from the jokes cracked by my wacky classmates (especially Ms Lim aka Fruit twins admirer)...however, around late noon, during my break where I'm suppose to meet with the laptop spoiler to discuss how to settle the matter amicably, the day seems to make a turn for the "badder" (no, there's no such word entered in Oxford dictionary...just understand it as Ger's lingo)...

The laptop spoiler could not meet up to discuss at the last minute (he only informed me after i sms him where i'll be to meet up) and suggested we meet up on Wednesday...some people simply don't have the courtesy of informing others when the initial appointment made is not convenient for them...he's really testing my limits...

Then, realise that the CD-R which i initially thought had the Little Miracles Storyboards info which I troubled Persis from the ASEAN Stories to return to me, is actually the powerpoint presentation which we used for Recruitment purposes...now the storyboard soft copy info has gone MIA...and i need the information for the NIE News report soon...hiaz...

Next, gotta find and get at least 1 YEP member who can make it this Wednesday 330pm to do some sharing with PGDE students who are taking a module that is related to Service-learning. (Supervised by Dr.Vilma) Managed to contact Jason who's the only trainee available at that time slot...(i end lesson only by 530pm). Whew...

And when I chatted online with another member who's helping to write the major project report for SIF, she mistook my tone. She felt offended and commented I need to learn some social skills...(which I think I might be lacking when online i suppose...cos pple can always misinterpret what you type when they cannot hear how u wish to convey your thoughts...get what i mean?) Felt blamed for something which I have no intention of in the first place...I was simply asking casually if the final report has been submitted to SIF in passing cos some other members are asking when they can get their subsidies back (SIF's policy...to refund the team only when the final report has been approved). Haiz...guess MSN messenger should include a new feature in the next version, whereby telecommunication is possible online so that people can hear ya voice if you choose to talk to the person online instead of simply typing. Then, misunderstandings will be less likely to occur.

Catch up...no...not ketchup!

No classes today but gotta be back in NIE to research for next Mon's Motivation module's presentation. Left campus in the afternoon to meet Tunglim briefly to pass him the simple farewell gift I prepared for him (going to Canada on Thursday to pursue his Science Degree). Met up with Jolene in Orchard to catch up about what's been happening recently. Had a great time chatting with her. She's still as slim and cute Japenese-looking as ever. But think the next time we meet up will be during our year-end hols after the exams. =\

The return of the laptop

Finally, after almost 3 weeks of agonising wait and much inconveniences, my laptop's back with me. Though by the time I reached home I was pretty tired, but just wanted to check and make sure that my documents are still intact, hence I stayed up till 12+am.

Gotta start on my assignments now that my laptop's back...deadlines are looming near...just worried that the laptop spoiler will shirk all responsibilities...the repair fee is a loan from my mum and I don't have that much $$$ to cover this accident cost! *_*

The past 3 days...

20th Sept, Friday

After my long day in sch, travelled to IMM to collect my laptop. Upon reaching Sony Gallery, the salesperson inform me that unless the payment is by Cash, Visa or Nets, I cannot collect my laptop. Real irritated cos I wasn't informed of this and I really need to start on my assignments soon...there wasn't any room for negotiation cos it's their company's policy. Real inflexible...gotta wait till the cheque is cashed before i can collect my laptop which means I have to make another trip down on Monday...urgh...what lousy customer service! I voiced out my displeasure that no call was made to inform me that my laptop is ready for collection and the salesperson did not even apologise...and when I mention that I wasn't informed of the company's policy regarding the cheque payment, he said I should have enquired beforehand...another guy pushing the blame on me...what's with all these people???

21st Sept, Saturday

Attended a Children's Lit Seminar at the Chinese Heritage Centre in NTU. The presentation by the speaker from Taiwan was actually quite alright but when it came to the question and answer section, those who fielded questions began to digress quite abit and the rest of us (esp. Tzehan, Sweesin, Yifen and me) were trying hard to keep awake. Even our GE lecturer smiled cos she also felt that the discussion was going way off the topic. So glad that the seminar was finally over and we could go get lunch before heading to the com lab to do some work. Met up with my mum and sis in Orchard for dinner and shopping before fetching dad from the airport. Hit the sack only around 1+am. *Yawn

22nd Sept, Sunday

After my piano lessons, met up with Terence and we started walking from Plaza Singapura down to Esplanade. Stop to get lunch at Kopitiam before heading to Peninsula Plaza as I wanted to get some books. Reached the riverside between Esplanade and Fullerton around 1pm and sat there to just enjoy the sights for awhile before walking down to Clarke Quay. Visited a few collectors' toy stores before going to Kinokuniya to get stationery at Liang Court. Home in time to join family for dinner.

Laptop update

Missing my laptop badly...needed to get it back to start on my assignments so called SONY IMM Gallery to check how's the repair progress. Apparently, the laptop's ready for collection for a few days already but i was not notified...the lousy technician did not inform me. Intend to collect it tomorrow after my lessons so called the guy who spoilt my laptop. He didn't answer the first time I called.

However, when i was on my way home (waiting for bus at Hougang), I managed to get through to him. Initially, he thought I was someone's roommate till I clarified that I'm calling regarding the laptop he spoilt. His tone changed instantly and this irritating jerk went on to inform me that he can only make payment next month and he's only willing to pay 50% of the repair fee! I listened incredulously to his absurd claim that it was a public walkway and it's also my fault the accident happen. In the first place, he did not mention on that fateful day that he's only willing to pay half of the amount. Everyone present heard clearly that he'll pay me when I get the receipt of the repair. He kept insisting that it's like a car accident situation where both parties are at fault. I was really fuming mad that he dare to keep insisting that I'm at fault and that it was a public walkway. I told him that it's not the first time I use the laptop with my charger in the canteen and nothing has happened in the past 2 years till he came along to destroy my laptop.

He then went on unreasonably arguing what happens if he injured himself as he tripped over my charger, who's going to pay for his medical fee. Although I was really angry with him by this time, I was still in a clear state of mind to point out that he should not digress cos in actual fact he did not incur any injuries. I also pointed out that never once did he mention on that day itself that he's only willing to pay half of the damages. I told him that I'm only getting payment for the repair and it did not include the inconvenience and the emotional "trauma" I had to go through. That jerk went on and on saying that it's a public walkway and that it's both parties' fault. I couldn't stand him any longer and told him "I don't wish to hear anymore, I'll contact him again, bye" and hung up before I start swearing at him (in public). He nearly made me lose my cool and break my own rule of not swearing at anyone.

Ironic that I just attended a lunchtime talk today about not being 'murderously angry' at anyone and yet this evening, I could not control my temper. Real unlucky to be in this predicament. Hopefully, my YEP friend who knows that laptop spoiler can help me settle this matter. Urgh!
