Holidays are here!!!

Besides the students, teachers are also in a good mood as it's finally time to enjoy the well-deserved break...

Although I did relief teaching for most of the final term, have grown attached to some of the students and I'll miss some of them.

Next week there'll be some meeting and training but at least for this weekend can relax. =)

Haze

The air condition is really bad...each day the problem persists...

Don't even have to look far to notice the hazy skies...really pity those with respiratory problems...must be having a hard time.

Even my eyes are getting the effects of the haze...feel so tired most of the time, as though I can hardly open them.

The PSI is always hovering around the 100 mark...wonder when the haze will be over and clear skies will be back...

Bodyshop warehouse sale

After school, went to Suntec Hall 401 for the Bodyshop Warehouse Sale. The place was quite big but there wasn't much items on sale.

Almost fainted when I saw the Bodybutter set going for only $29.90. I got mine for $60 plus!!! Can buy two!!! Helped sis get a mango set while I got an empty Grapeseed container for only $5. There were also miniature versions of SPA wisdom range which of cos I can't resist.

Was fooled by the packing lady...she was supposed to give me free sample of SPA wisdom body mask. She even asked me to check the bag which I didn't...haiz, should have...got home to realise she didn't include the free sample.

Was feeling quite tired so was dozing off in the bus on my way back.

Lunch out

After sorting out the chinese cards and storybooks in the HOD room...decided to get lunch with Joslyn at Compasspoint together.

We had Sakae Sushi and the food was served rather slowly...waited quite long for my soft-shell crab...so hungry...

Intended to get stickers but didn't managed to find any cute ones. Pepperplus was having a sale and managed to get the above top for only $11. Sis thinks it looks awful though...haha. Reached home by 3:30pm and was feeling quite drowsy...think maybe it's the haze...the air quality is still quite lousy.

Caught a nap since there wasn't anything I needed to do. =P

Leisure sunday

Had Bak Kut Teh with family for lunch before heading for Orchard. Went to Robinsons and John Little with family before going to Takashimaya on my own.

Found two pencils with mini animal stamps at the top...and they are not pricey at all. Spotted the 2007 Cinnamoroll schedule book but have yet to buy one. Went to Kinokuniya to check out the stationery section but nothing caught my eye.

Managed to find out from Taka's Bodyshop that the outlet in Scotts still sells the Mango body butter gift set that I've been searching for. Walked down to the store quickly and decided to buy the last Mango set available there. It's already a discounted item so can't use my birthday month's 20 % discount nor the rebates.

Went to Isetan supermarket next and found a new chocolate with chestnut flavour. Decided to buy a box to try as it's only $2.20. The chocolate is quite nice.

Walked over to Wheelock Place next and couldn't resist the gashapon machine with Cinnamoroll clips.

Met Weiming around 5 plus pm and we had dinner at Sakae Sushi. Took a brief walk in Borders before taking the bus back home.

Vivocity

Met Delong at Hougang MRT around 1140am. Bumped into Jiahui with her mum and sis at the train station.

Headed for Vivocity at Harbourfront. Although the place is huge but there wasn't much interesting stuff...quite a pity. Branded boutiques took up most of the space and there are 3 foodcourts: Kopitiam, Banquet and Food republic. Since there wasn't much stuff to check out here, we decided to go to Suntec.

Had ThaiExpress lunch at Citylink, the Tom Yum soup was quite spicy...think their chilli is free...the pineapple rice also tasted different...surprisingly on a Saturday afternoon, Suntec was relatively less crowded. Checked out the gashapon machines but nothing fancy caught my eye. Bought Yami yogurt before taking bus 700 to Dhoby Ghaut.

Managed to get the wedding gift and baby gift for my colleagues at More Than Words. Saw the cute baby pooh speaker soft toy at Action City and Delong bought it as a belated birthday gift for me. =)

Ah...chew...

Perhaps it's the haze but most probably some virus in the staffroom that got to me...shortly after arriving in school today, kept sneezing and showed cold symptoms...

Unfortunately, i didn't bring panadol cold tablets with me and the school office or sick bay doesn't have any either. Have to fight off drowsiness and the sneezing to relief some classes.

Couldn't stand the sneezing and had to ask the VP for permission to leave the school earlier. Left by 530pm and took the bus to Tampines.

Met Jiahui and we intended to eat at Sakae Sushi, however the long queue put us off. We settled for Genki Sushi instead. The food wasn't very fresh and think the both of us felt we won't want to eat there anymore.

Left for home around 9 plus pm...real tired out.

It's over

After 6 months, it's over...I'm back to singlehood.

Somehow, I've sensed it coming...been seeing lesser of each other, no frequent updates through calls or sms...

Perhaps it's better this way...

Quiet affair

Turning a year older...a simple morning sms from Dad (in Taiwan), well-wishes from friends and family. Celebrated earlier with family as Dad will be overseas today. Appreciate all the well-wishes. Thanks =)

《I am Sam》

Last minute changes to sat plan, don't really like it but have to be understanding...sigh...need to eat out and attend piano lessons, hence went out with mum & sis. Quite a few shops in Heeren have changed since my last visit. Even the gelato stall where I met a fellow aj gal in Starhub food centre is also gone! To see Orchard road decorated with a myriad of colours from the blooming flowers (due to IMF conference) and Serangoon road preparing for Deepavali's decoration were the highlights of my day. (part of 139 bus route to toa payoh interchange from bus stop in front of dhoby ghaut long john silvers) =)

Met one of my p4 students at PC X-Zone at Dhoby Ghaut mrt station...she must be wondering why a teacher is there...haha, passed by the shop and wanted to see the gashapon machines.

Reached home and caught this movie...the immense love and bond between the child and the autistic father touches one to tears...

《Love comes slowly》

Intended to pack my things but sis had to do project in the study room with her classmate, so chanced to catch this touching and heart-warming movie on Hallmark Channel this afternoon. Here's some info I found on the hallmark channel website:

Love Comes Softly is based on the first installment of the successful franchise of eight Love Comes Softly novels from writer Janette Oke. Most of Ms. Oke's books are themed around the inspirational message that fortitude and faith can bring one through life's circumstances – both the bad and the good.

Marty Claridge is a young woman reluctantly headed west with her husband, Aaron to start a new life. A runaway horse kills Aaron suddenly, leaving Marty far from home and in a sea of strangers. Adrift in her tragedy, Marty has no means of caring for herself until Clark offers to marry her and care for her until she can return to the East. Clark needs a mother for his ten-year-old daughter who is determined to foil all of Marty's attempts at kindness. In a place where all hope seems lost, Marty discovers love is found in the most unlikely of places.

SCTU course

Spent 3 days attending the Singapore Chinese Teachers' Union reading club course at Sims Avenue Centre. Besides Yifen and her colleagues, met Corinne on the second day of the course.

The course is very enriching: the picture books and activities introduced to encourage students to cultivate the love for reading were the highlights for me. The planning part was quite tedious as we have to apply what the lecturer taught almost immediately. The concept is to structure questions that guide students to share more and be involve in discussions during a reading club session.

Bought 3 books and have to control my spending cos the picture books, especially Jimmy's (taiwanese) were very attractive. =P

Pepper Lunch

After school, went to meet Mum and sis at Compasspoint library before going to Hougang Mall for lunch. Tried Pepper Lunch's beef pepper rice set...think maybe cos it's piping hot and was also quite hungry, finished the food quite fast.

Walked around Hougang Mall and noticed the new food section (small restaurants) on level 2. Saw Andy Lau's new album at Sembawang music store but didn't buy yet. It's a cantonese album that's why didn't really see any publicity in the news. Noted the website of andyworldclub: www.awc618.com I like the home page where Andy Lau is in a pilot's uniform...looks so dashing!

Was about to leave the mall and i was looking at the Mcdonald's ty bear when this guy literally walked right into my path and we did bumped into one another lightly...luckily he moved aside and both of us muttered sorry. First time so sotong...didn't see a person right in front of my path.

Waited quite long for the bus and by the time we got home, was super tired...(last night slept only abt 4+hr).

Bodyshop offering star loyalty member a 30% discount on regular items till this sunday...gonna go shopping tmr =)

Celebrity day

Alvin bought lunch for me as I was still coughing and would be better to take my medication at home instead of bringing it out.

Went to Far East to try to look for something glittery that suits the dinner on 1 sept. Was looking for a handheld evening bag but nothing caught my fancy.

Reached plaza sg to find a huge crowd near the centre stage. OSIM invited their spokesperson, Louis Koo. He is really dashing and lotsa people, young & old, male or female were literally squeezing their way to get a photo shot of him. Some even tried to barge into the area when he was posing at the massage chair, but was stopped by the event personnels. There's a OSIM board near the massage chair and if the security personnels didn't warn the fans, think might have crashed onto Louis Koo's head cos it was shaky.

He went backstage after the photoshoot and Sharon Au came out. She was quite friendly and even chatted with some of the aunties. After she left, the crowd waited in anticipation for Louis Koo to leave the backstage. I was standing near the escalator and realised that he would be coming up as there were photographers stationed near the second floor escalators. True enough, close to 5pm, he came out and was escorted to the OSIM store located on the second floor. Lotsa people followed behind with digicams and hp cameras capturing him.

Tried to get a close-up shot of him while he was on the escalator but my hp camera was on some standby mode and was too slow to react...-_-

Only managed to get a 3 images of him being interviewed, posing at the massage chair and also coming out of backstage. Here's the advertisement photoshoot from the OSIM website:

Long way back

Went back to our “娘家”after sch today, thought need to apply leave personally for my piano exam but apparently after prac period, i just need to inform the school. @_@

Some noticeable changes:

  1. Interchange has shifted to opposite side of mrt. Long walk to 179,199 queue..extreme end to cater to the queues during the hectic hrs.
  2. New activity centre where the art gallery was for SLC and other club activities.
  3. New blocks constucted to halls of residence closer to NIE.

Took Shuttle bus C to medical centre. Could have walked there but decided to try out the shuttle bus route and also to "re-visit" the campus life. Managed to leave by 4pm and not bump into the working crowd after office hours.

Retail therapy for the bargain hunter

As you can see, it's been ages since the last time I've blogged...been too busy with teaching and dating of cos..haha

Long hours at work (both in sch and at home) has reinstated me as the Singapore Panda Club manager. Last friday was the only day I gave myself a break after school (since the hols) to meet Jiahui to go to Concourse and also Bugis. Had dinner at Concourse in a Japanese restaurant called Yamagawa. Tasty authentic jap food is the best! Went there to buy some gifts for my students and after dinner we checked out the new shopping mall called Icon at Bugis. The shops there are really small, about 3 customers will packed a shop.

Spotted a very nice dress and decided to go back on Saturday to get it as they only accept cash payment. Managed to get it at $68 (original $72.90). Quite pricey but I really liked the design, the material, everything about it...it even has a slimming effect!!!

There's also a gashapon collection shop where the lady boss is very nice. We even exchanged our little gashapon collection craze experiences...=P
Can get past editions and also sell extras if the boss thinks customers might want them.

Saturday went to visit Alv as he's not too well. Went to Bugis (to get the dress) and Plaza Sg (piano) to get some shopping done. Managed to get a dorothy perkins' top going for $16 due to the end of season sale. Need to start looking for a tube top or spagghetti top for my dress as it has a plunging neckline. I even started grocery shopping in Carrefour after my lesson! There's some interesting new products like the Japanese fish and French cheese garlic spread.

Didn't feel well on Sunday so stayed home to do my work and Alv came for lunch and to accompany me. =)

Went to Suntec alone after completing my work yesterday as I wanted to look for the tube/spagghetti top. Managed to get a brown spagghetti top that is like a mini dress. Quite interesting on it's own as well. The rest were either too lacey or the material didn't match. Tried out a few pieces of clothing at the Mango sale but nothing really caught my eye. Bought a dark green polo top for $20 from a China brand shop. Like the comfortable material. The pink and white also looks good but the material is too translucent.

There were alot of new gashapons...of cos I have to spend on some of them...quite lucky today, managed to get the designs i fancy upon the first try. Bought cinnamoroll jelly from Sanrio store as it has a cute pouch and is at half-price. Went to Carrefour to get some foodstuff before taking the long bus ride home.

Went to Northpoint by taking bus 83 after the meeting today. Found the Esprit store that sells out of season, discounted stuff. Managed to find a pair of khaki pumps with a very ladylike design, going for $39. The usual price was $129.90 as it's all leather (cowhide). Spotted a nice jacket going for $29 but in the end just got the shoes.

Choir Concert rehearsal

Alot has happened lately but too busy and tired to blog...went to the Singapore Conference Hall for the first time today (or so i thought, parents told me that I went there for my first piano practical exam when i was like 8?) with the choir teacher and students. The instructor and pianist met us there but we had to wait for quite sometime at the lobby as the personnels and holding rooms were not ready.

There were 9 schools altogether and some were in their costumes, while others in their school uniform. The kids started getting restless as time passes, finally around 2+pm, we could move to the backstage and have the students get into positions.

After the first dry run, they simulated a real rehearsal and I got to hear the different choirs sing. Some songs were not heard as I had to assist the teacher and ensure that the students know where to go. All these choirs got gold or gold with honours at this year's Singapore youth festival competition and they were really quite entertaining. It was quite an interesting and enriching experience. Free preview of an impressive concert, and a glimpse of what goes on behind the scenes too =P
